Our inaugural board is raring to go getting the Southdale Residents Group up and running and doing good in our community. Below we’ve got information about each of them as well as their lovable mugs.

Kevin Dickson
Chairperson
I am a recently retired Professional Engineer, and have lived here in Southdale since 1968, currently 2nd and 3rd generations.
It surprised me that a community of this maturity did not have a Residents Group. After several months I am happy to say we now have a proper Board in place! Our community has missed out on many opportunities in the forms of grants (Civil, Provincial, and Federal).
We have a beautiful community, and it is our goal to work with the residents and businesses of Southdale to continue to keep it that way.
Karine Drobko
Vice Chair
Allo!
My name is Karine Drobko, and I am vice-chair with the Southdale Residents Group.
Some things you should know about me:
I’ve been resident of Southdale for 31 years.
I’ve been a public servant for 17 years.
I am francophone.
I joined the Southdale Residents Group because I truly love our little slice of the Peg. We have such a wonderful community and neighborhood ❤️

Tom McCarthy
Treasurer
Newfie by birth, Flatlander by choice, I’ve lived in Southdale for 10+ years with my family of 5. I moved from Newfoundland 30 years ago, working with First Nations and moved into the housing field for the past 20+ years, most recently in policy at the Federal level.
Like our chair, I was surprised when I learned about the formation of the Residents Group through social media and before I knew it, I was treasurer like I’ve done elsewhere. It is daunting to start from the ground up but we have an amazing group of like-minded volunteers and there’s so much to come.
Cindy Little
Secretary
Hi, I’m Cindy Little and I’ve been living in Southdale for 12+ years with one human, one dog and a sprinkling of cats. I am, by far, the least well behaved of them all 🙂
I love gardening, camping, fishing, hiking, etc. But when I am home, I take the time to enjoy all the beautiful greenspaces in our area.
I hope to see Southdale thrive and grow under the ministrations of the residents’ group.

Miriam Robern
Communications Director
I’m excited to serve as our first Communications Director, and I hope to help facilitate a lot of good work in our community. I’m looking forward to Community Clean Ups and Bear Clan Patrols. (I’m also a big fan of a good potluck, hint hint.)
We moved to Winnipeg in 2017 and Southdale in 2020—just in time for lockdown. I live with my wife, two children (both Theater Kids; pray for me), and their two enormous dogs.
Salem Woodrow
Member-at-Large
Salem Woodrow grew up in Winnipeg, living in Southdale. After university she moved to Calgary, where she lived for seven years, returning to Winnipeg in 2018. She and her young family moved to Southdale in 2022.
Salem enjoys playing sports and being outdoors. You can usually catch her walking or running around Southdale while her daughter rollerblades or rides her bike.

Ron Kerr
Member-at-Large
Hello fellow Southdale residents!
I worked in the finance and legal industry for over 25 years, operating a paralegal business for 13 of those years.
I enjoy Tiki and Polynesian pop culture, so much that I was part of a documentary called Mai Tai’s Toque’s and Tiki’s. Being a teetotaler now I have changed my focus and enjoy an array of different hobbies.
I have been a resident of Southdale since spring of 1999. Since moving here I have developed a love of my community and the great folks that live here! I am a proud Red River Metis and father of two amazing children.
I am a grassroots advocate in my free time. I believe safety of our community and its residents are at the utmost importance. I believe we have a responsibility to do our best for the community in the form of cleanliness, added supports , services, attract new business to the area, and to continue to have pride in our community.
